Elected on April 7, 2014, in the riding of Jean-Talon, Yves Bolduc was appointed Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports on April 23, 2014. He also serves as Minister of Higher Education, Research and Science and as Minister responsible for the Côte-Nord region.
Minister Bolduc holds a doctorate in medicine from Université Laval, a bachelor’s degree in health sciences, a bachelor’s degree in public administration from the École nationale d’administration publique (ENAP) and a diploma in bioethics from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi.
After working as a doctor for nearly 30 years, he served as President of the Association des conseils des médecins, dentistes et pharmaciens du Québec from 2002 to 2007. From 2008 to 2012, he occupied the post of Minister of Health and Social Services. Likewise, from 2011 to 2012, he occupied the position of Minister responsible for the Gaspésie—Îles-de-la-Madeleine region and the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.
In 2012, he was Chair of the Comité ministériel du développement social, éducatif et culturel. The committee’s mandate was to coordinate and ensure the consistency of government policies and actions, to advise the Cabinet on various issues and to inform it of the best possible solutions, particularly in the areas of education, sports and recreation.
