Québec Merit Scholarships for Foreign Students in Vocational Training
Targeted Clientele
This scholarship is intended for international students from Asia (China, India and Japan) and Central and South America (Brazil and Mexico), as well as from the developing countries in the French-speaking world, who wish to pursue full-time studies in a vocational training program leading to a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) or an Attestation of Vocational Specialization (AVS). Priority will be given to students enrolled in a program with favourable job prospects.
Value of Scholarships
This scholarship is valued at $10 000 for students enrolled in a program of 900 hours or less. For a student enrolled in a program of more than 900 hours and lasting more than a year, an additional amount of $1 000 will be paid for each additional 100-hour segment, up to a limit of $19 000 in all for an 1800-hour program.
In addition to the scholarship, MELS offers recipients an exemption from paying the differential tuition fees required of international students.
To Apply
Applications are preselected by the school boards. They are then sent to Éducation internationale, which, as the managing organization for the program, makes the final selection.

Québec Merit Scholarships for Foreign Students in Technical Training
Targeted Clientele
This scholarship is primarily intended for international students from Asia (China, India and Japan) and Central and South America (Brazil and Mexico), as well as from developing countries in the French-speaking world, who wish to pursue full-time studies in a technical training program leading to a Diploma of College Studies (DCS). Priority will be given to students enrolled in programs with favourable job prospects. Half the scholarships are reserved for regions where a decrease in attendance has been observed.
Value of Scholarships
This scholarship is valued at $15 000 per year, for a period of up to three years (renewed annually).
In addition to the scholarship, MELS offers recipients an exemption from paying the differential tuition fees required of international students.
To Apply
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence. The indicators used are: cumulative average obtained, academic progress, duration of studies, prizes and distinctions, and letters of reference.
Applications are preselected by the Québec colleges, which then forward the preselected applications to the organization managing the program, either Cégep international for public institutions or the ACPQ for private colleges.

The Association des collèges privés du Québec (ACPQ) has the same mandate with regard to scholarships granted to subsidized private colleges.

Targeted Clientele
These scholarships are intended for students and researchers from all fields of study or research who wish to undertake or pursue studies or research activities in Québec.
Value of Scholarships
Doctoral Research Scholarship
This scholarship is valued at $25 000 per year. The maximum duration is three years (the first nine semesters), with a possible extension of up to 12 additional months. Only a monthly allocation of $1 000 is paid in the case of an extension.
Postdoctoral Fellowship Scholarship
This scholarship is valued at $35 000 for one year (non-renewable).
Short-Term Research and Professional Development Scholarship
This scholarship is valued at $3 000 per month for a period of up to four (4) months.

Candidates must meet all the conditions of admission for the Québec Merit Scholarship Program for Foreign Students and provide all required documents in support of their application, as found on the FQRNT Web site.

The Fonds québécois de la recherche sur la nature et les technologies (FQRNT) has been mandated by the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport du Québec (MELS) to manage scholarships at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels as well as for short-term research and professional development, for international students.
