Anthology of ways to promote books and reading
The firm commitment on the part of young people and their schools to promote books and reading is highly conducive to instilling a love of reading that will last a lifetime.
With this in mind, the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS) has taken measures to encourage action and commitment on the part of the education community within the framework of the "And what are you reading?" action plan to promote reading in schools.
More specifically, the MELS gives out recognition awards to schools that implement measures to encourage reading, in particular among boys, as well as youth groups that carry out innovative projects to promote reading.
Analysis of all these projects made it possible to identify interesting and proactive approaches to promoting books and reading in schools and the surrounding community.
In this section, you will find an anthology of suggestions directly related to the projects carried out in the education community. These suggestions are grouped into main categories, each of which consists of projects with common features.
In each category, a key idea will help you choose the project that may be of interest to you. Clicking on this key idea will display a description of suggestions for book-related activities or ways of promoting books and reading. In some cases, you will be informed of the availability of an appended document that may help you with your efforts.
These suggestions are intended to give you ideas based on projects that other schools or youth groups have carried out to instill a love of reading and nurture regular reading habits.
