“You read it, you get it!”

“You read it, you get it!” is an advertising campaign intended to promote reading among 12-to-17-year-olds so that it becomes a meaningful activity for them.

By means of this campaign, the Ministère hopes that young people will come to associate reading with pleasure and realize that they read much more than they thought they did in their daily lives.

This campaign, in French and English, was developed as part of the Action Plan on Reading in School. It consists of infomercials in the form of humorous vignettes shown on television and posted on the Web.

Are you sure you’re watching a hockey game? Mmmm…I don’t know.

You’re sitting at the arena, you’re checking out the players on the ice, you read: Dion 16, N’guyen 2, Smith 23, Champion 1. You look up at the giant screen on the scoreboard, you read submarine, you read vacations in the sun, you read early-bird special.

Do you think you’re following a hockey game? No way. You’re reading the whole time.

Between periods, you read your tablet, you read a blog, the paper, or I don’t know Shakespeare’s. Cool! Because you’ve been reading, and that gives you something to say. And that’s really cool.

You see? You read it, you get it.
