2009 Active School Contest
Going the Healthy Route at School

There is broad agreement that health, educational success and the adoption of healthy living habits constitute important challenges. Adopting and maintaining healthy eating habits and engaging in regular physical activity are key to young people's personal and social development; they have a positive effect on growth, well-being and learning. In addition, physical activity promotes concentration, a factor associated with educational success.

On the basis of this consensus, the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport is calling on the school community to foster healthy eating and active living through its new Framework Policy Going the Healthy Route at School. This Policy requires schools to ensure that the foods they supply encourage the adoption of healthy eating habits and to increase opportunities for all students to be physically active at school. The Framework Policy also recommends that schools create programs to facilitate the adoption and maintenance of healthy living habits by providing students with information and encouragement.

To increase opportunities for physical activity and foster healthy living habits, Kino-Québec and its partners invite you to participate in the 2009 Active School Contest by submitting a project.  Fill out the e-form for a chance to win a grant of $500 to $2000.

For more information, please contact your regional Kino-Québec consultant, or call 418-646-6137, extension 3649.

We must receive the form before April 26, 2009.

If selected, you must complete your project and claim your grant by March 31, 2010.
