Marie-Hélène Prémont paid a visit to Saint-Édouard de Plessisville school
On March 15, as part of the 2011 Winter Fun campaign, Olympic athlete Marie-Hélène Prémont paid a visit to the students of Saint-Édouard de Plessisville school.
Physical education teacher Jérôme Grenier had organized several activities to mark the event. First, Marie-Hélène gave a very interesting talk about the benefits and fun of regular physical activity. After answering students’ questions, Marie-Hélène and everyone else at the school put on their snowsuits and went out to play in the schoolyard.
The students chose from a number of fun sports activities, including an inukshuk-building contest, sliding and pick-up hockey. Marie-Hélène, who is spokesperson for Winter Fun, worked on an inukshuk with some of the students. She and two students were asked to judge the inukshuks constructed and select a winning team.
At the end of the day, the students were grinning from ear to ear, thrilled to have had some winter fun with Marie-Hélène. To thank her for visiting, one of the students presented Marie-Hélène with a basket of the area’s maple products.
