Integrating the Cultural Dimension into School
Integrating the Cultural Dimension into School is a reference document that deals with integrating the cultural dimension into school. Written for teachers, it sets out various ways of enriching the cultural content of study programs based on three avenues for integrating the cultural dimension into school:
- the Québec Education Program for elementary and secondary education
- teaching and learning
- joint actions with the school's cultural partners
It derives from the Educational Policy Statement Québec Schools on Course (1997), which recommended that the cultural content of the curriculum be improved. It is also consistent with the Québec Education Program (QEP) for elementary and secondary education (2001 and 2002), which recommends that cultural content be included in students' learning:
- to enable them to broaden their world-views
- to construct their identities
- to become empowered
